Custom Orthotics from Anywhere

Our Virtual Care options make the support of custom orthotics accessible to anyone in the country. Here’s how it works:

  • Schedule an initial evaluation appointment to talk about your current symptoms, concerns, and health history
  • During the initial evaluation, one of our Certified Pedorthists will assess your lower extremity mechanics in both a standing and a slight knee-bend position
  • Download our 3D Scan app
  • Submit your 3D model to our orthotics lab
  • Receive your custom orthotics!

Our Virtual Care Process

Our custom orthotics lab and clinic is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and all our custom orthotics are made right here in-house. For those who aren’t able to visit us in person, we offer comprehensive virtual care options to help you get the support you need to live a less painful life.

Initial appointment

Every virtual orthotic recommendation begins with a 30-minute virtual appointment with one of our experienced Certified Pedorthists. During this appointment, you’ll discuss your lower extremity symptoms, health history, current concerns, prior orthotic or physical therapy treatments, and anything else that might be leading you to seek out a custom orthotic.

Our Certified Pedorthists will also ask you to stand and do a few light movements done on-screen to get a full understanding of the way your feet are (or aren’t) supporting your body through different postures. You’d be surprised how easy and accurate a diagnosis can be from our Certified Pedorthists even over a video call. They’ve done this hundreds of times and know exactly what to look for.

Using the 3D Scan app

After your virtual visit, your pedorthist will have a good idea of the type of support that will be beneficial to your symptoms, health history, and postural indications. If you haven’t already, you can download our free 3D Scan app by going to your smartphone’s app store and searching for “Biocorrect” or “Biocorrect 3D foot scanner” and downloading the app. Once downloaded, contact our office to obtain a username and password associated with your account.

Our 3D scanner uses the same technology that your phone’s face identification uses to create a highly detailed, biometrically secure sign-in option for your most sensitive information. This scanning array is located at the top of your phone as you hold it in your hand, and utilizes thousands of points of data to produce a highly accurate model of your foot shape, size, and contour.

It can be a little awkward to do this scan yourself, so we recommend having a friend or family member help you out by holding the phone as you hold your foot still.

Foam impression box option

If you or your loved one don’t have access to a smartphone, you can still receive Biocorrect’s state-of-the-art orthotics by utilizing our foam impression box. We will ship this kit to your home and be able to accurately replicate the measurements of your feet from the impression you make in the foam. You will need to follow the instructions carefully to provide the most accurate impression for our lab, which can go much smoother with having a helping hand during the process.

Receive your prescription orthotics

Once our lab has your information, whether through the 3D Scan app or with a foam impression, we will get to work! Our average lead time for shipping your custom orthotics is about 5-7 business days from the date of receiving your foot scan/foot impression. (For those keeping track, using our 3D Scan app to send your scans instantly can shave a few days off your wait!)

We provide 4 free follow-up appointments within the first year should you have any difficulty with symptom relief, adjusting to your current orthotics, footwear recommendations and current fit of orthotics in your footwear, or to assess if we need to make an adjustment to your inserts for better results. In any case, our team is here to help you get the best results from your orthotics.

Virtual Custom Orthotic FAQs

How do I prepare for my virtual appointment?

There are steps you can take before a virtual visit that help it go more smoothly. One of the most important is making sure you have the correct equipment for our meeting. This includes getting access to a device that has an operational camera, microphone and speakers. In most cases, your smartphone, tablet, or laptop will be more than adequate for the telehealth appointment.

Other steps you should consider taking before your session include:

  • Making sure your device and internet browser are up-to-date
  • Checking and saving emails from Biocorrect with appointment details
  • Ensuring that your internet or cellular data connection is stable
  • Finding a way to operate the device you’re using hands-free
  • Preparing an area of your home to perform requests by the Certified Pedorthist – this can include standing straight in full view of the camera (head-to-toe should be visible) and holding postures like a light squat.
  • Having a friend or family member on hand to assist with exercises, postures, or technical difficulties

How do I pay for a virtual visit?

Our team accepts credit and debit cards, Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) payments. Depending on your insurance, we can discuss courtesy billing your insurance if you are eligible for custom foot orthotics on your insurance plan. Our team members will assist you in determining whether you are eligible for custom foot orthotic benefits on your insurance plan. We would also highly encourage you to contact your insurance company as well to inquire if you are eligible for custom orthotics.
