Biocorrect is excited to announce a new way to get the custom support that professional orthotics can provide. With the Biocorrect 3D Foot Scanner App, you provide your own high-quality scans that are submitted directly to our lab: no more shipping delays or tricky foam-impression kits!
We’re excited for the huge benefits this technology will have for our patients all over the country and invite you to learn more by requesting a virtual appointment today.
What is Biocorrect’s app?
We have developed a smartphone application that’s available for download now in the Apple app store and is compatible with any Apple device that has FaceID. This app allows your phone camera to create a detailed scan of your feet that our lab can use to make your personalized orthotics.
Patients who cannot attend an appointment in-person benefit from the instant turnaround of this new app, which they will gain access to after their virtual appointment.
How do virtual appointments for orthotics work?
First, you’ll schedule a time with us to talk through your symptoms and for us to provide more detailed instructions about how to use the app.
Once we’ve met and gone through the virtual evaluation, you’ll be able to log in through the app and have a friend/family member help you take your 3D foot scan with your phone. Once the process is complete, our team immediately receives the information we need to get started on your orthotics. No more waiting for a foam impression box in the mail that you have to return.
Can I order orthotics online?
Here at Biocorrect and in many places online, you can order off-the-shelf shoe inserts or insoles that can provide generalized support and cushioning. No matter how they’re advertised, however, these insoles are not the same thing as a custom orthotic, which is a prescription device made specifically for your foot contours, biomechanics, and foot size/shape.
Will custom orthotics work for me?
Depending on the type and severity of the issues you’re looking to solve, orthotics can be a helpful part in a more comprehensive recovery plan, or be a solution in and of themselves. For those who benefit from orthotics alone but may need more targeted therapy or help learning more sustainable movements, we may be able to provide a referral to physical therapy services near you.
Physical therapy is a great complement to a custom orthotic, whether you’re using it around the house or during exercise. A physical therapist can analyze your walking/running gait, help address balance concerns, and provide therapeutic exercises and stretches to help you adjust to your newly aligned feet and legs.
